| Immediately following the "Outstanding Student Awards", this new event, put on by the Community Learning Partnership of Greater Miami Shores, and the Greater Miami Shores Chamber of Commerce begins at 8:30 p.m. Area schools like Barry University, Doctors Charter School, Miami Country Day School, and others will showcase a collection of student films and videos as well as a feature short film. Judges will award the best of the best! |

| You are cordially invited to attend StartUP FIU’s Pitch Day on May 9, 2017! Pitch Day is an important milestone for our 2nd Empower Accelerator Program Cohort. By this day, our teams will have successfully completed our 14-week accelerator program. They would have participated in more than 30 presentations and workshops, taken part in critical mentoring and business advice, and presented their required weekly deliverables in preparation for this one day. Schedule 8:30 a.m. - Registration 9 a.m. - Pitches 10:30 a.m. - Break 11 a.m. - Pitches 12:30 p.m. - Event Ends About StartUP FIU: StartUP FIU is an initiative focused on developing traditional and social entrepreneurship among students, faculty/staff, alumni and the South Florida community. Its Empower Accelerator Program is a 14-week accelerator program, consisting of a robust curriculum, critical mentoring and business advice, and weekly team deliverables. Each week of the program is based on a theme around which lectures and events are scheduled. Successful entrepreneurs from the Miami community provide mentorship to each team. Teams meet with their mentors on a weekly basis to discuss the strategies and skills needed to advance each team’s vision. Those who successfully complete the program are given the opportunity to pitch their startups to potential investors in week 14. |
