Event Description We can’t find a job, yet there are hundreds of open positions in the Miami job market. On April 12th join StartUP FIU and Matt Haggman, Knight Foundation’s Miami program director and one of the principle thinkers shaping the entrepreneurship and technology ecosystem in Miami, for a candid discussion and fact-finding exercise to better understand the challenges in securing tech jobs in South Florida. In his role as Miami program director, Matt Haggman leads Knight’s communities program in South Florida. In 2011, he launched the foundation’s initiative aimed at connecting and propelling Miami’s emerging entrepreneurs and startups as a way of building community. Over the past few years this has included supporting the launch of Endeavor Miami, The Idea Center at Miami Dade College, eMerge Americas, Black Tech Week, LaunchCode South Florida, Startupbootcamp Miami, Babson's Women Innovating Now Lab, The Lab Miami, and many other programs. What is StartUP FIU? StartUP is an initiative focused on creating traditional and social entrepreneurship among students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members. We assist to create and grow traditional companies, high-tech ventures, and social enterprises in Miami. What is Knight Foundation? Knight Foundation is a national foundation with strong local roots. They invest in journalism, the arts, and the success of cities where brothers John S. and James L. Knight once published newspapers. Their goal is to foster informed and engaged communities, which we believe are essential for a healthy democracy.
