Ballet Flamenco La Rosa and Miami Dance Festival Present ?El Padre? with special guest artist Carmela Greco

Date: May 23, 2015 - May 24, 2015
Event Description

Ballet Flamenco La Rosa debuts its World Premiere of the original Flamenco Ballet “El Padre”, inspired by Strindberg’s The Father, on May 23 (8 p.m.) and May 24 (3 p.m.) at the Miami-Dade County Auditorium. In a groundbreaking, World Premier work, Artistic Director Ilisa Rosal will collaborate with 9 dancers and 5 musicians from Spain, Sweden and the U.S., led by legendary Flamenco star Carmela Greco, to tell this realistic 19th Century tragedy of love, insanity, suspicion, pride, betrayal and the struggle for power between the sexes, using the magnificent language of Flamenco music and dance. With its earthy power, spellbinding athleticism, subtle nuances and explosive energy, Flamenco is at once sensual and spiritual, raw and refined, and has a unique magic that continues to fascinate and inspire poets, choreographers, composers and audiences alike.
